GSO BENEFITS FROM IT'S FIRST FALL FUNDRAISER
OCTOBER 20, 2013
In October GSO benefited from a splendid first annual "Harvest Picnic" fundraiser held at the beautiful South Coast Botanic Gardens in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. GSO founder Holly Richards orchestrated this event. Ms. Richards was assisted by her board members, who purchased the tables, provided the food and table decorations. The board members invited other supporters. The event was a perfect example of social networking resulting in 80+ people coming together for a lovely luncheon and the opportunity to support the vision of building GSO communities of support for women throughout the United States. We thank all our board members and our local businesses that so graciously donated and especially our lovely guests.
Ms. Richards commented "The best part of the day for me was how everyone (board member and guests) pitched into help with anything that we needed. It was an amazing group of people. Thank you again for believing in GSO."
WHAT WE DO
We provide collaborative educational programs to improve self-sufficiency and self-esteem. We target unemployed and underemployed participants from diverse economic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds with a soft heart for single mothers. Participants come to us through drug and alcohol recovery centers, churches, and other community organizations that work with distressed individuals who need assistance with their employment.
We implement the program with a system of metrics to continually monitor and improve our effectiveness. We also refer individuals to licensed and accredited job training and educational programs offered in the area by two and four year colleges.
